The pattern of these glasses is a special technique used also by Venini at the time and goes under the name of Tartan, the criss-crossed fabric used on quilts.

Here Amelio Cenedese used a special cane called Zanfirico.
It’s made by twisting and crossing small beads of glass and then pulling the glass forming a cane, following the Murrina technique. The result is a net of color inside a glass cane. The color used is sky blue (Aquamarine over white smalto). The Warp horizontal was first added to the glass with a spiralized bead in orange over smalto white. Then Weft vertical was attained by rolling it over the Zanfirico canes laid and evenly spaced.
