This is a great sculpture. Please check details on photo. It’s part of a group of probably four figurines representing the four seasons. This is the spring. An auction house sold the shovel, probably representing the fall.
The position of the body, with the partial twist of the trunk and the open legs for balancing the body are of perfect execution. The hat, the scarf , boots and cannister with the seeds are hot gold leafed. Exquisite masterpiece.
Certain of the attribution for the extreme similarity with other sculptures of this series. the pointed nose and the use of gold leaf over the clear glass. Also the morise sourrounding the rectaingular base has gold representing the earth.

A collector piece of a great finesse.
