This Wilhelmine-Henriette dining chair is part of our Eclectica collection of Biedermeier chairs.
It is made from solid Italian walnut wood. The black finish is applied by hand with shellac, giving it a smooth and glossy surface.
The seat is designed for comfort with a firm foam base and a softer top layer. It is covered in a corduroy-style velvet from Alessandro Bini. A matching velvet is used for the piping. This chair is shown here in a warm coffee tone, which contrasts with the dark wood frame.
The Biedermeier style was a new kind of furniture that put comfort first, using curved shapes and back support. It was popular with a new wealthy class and not just royalty. This fresh, modern approach is why it fits so well in today’s homes.
