The series draws inspiration from the complex, multi-layered patterns found in historic Byzantine mosaics—incorporating an ancient aesthetic directly into modern form.
Each individual glassware piece offers a distinct exploration of depth, and texture, highlighted by an asymmetrical placement of colored glass accents.. Produced by the raising star young maestro Dario Frare, the making process requires extreme technical skill. The molten matrix is carefully rolled over an argento esterno (exposed silver leaf) background, allowing the external silver foil to achieve a partial, monitored oxidation that shifts into warm golden tones. Vivid macie tociate (glass spots) are scattered organically across the surface before the piece is hand-opened, allowing Dario to introduce variations that ensure no two pieces are identical.
