The glass before blowing is heated again to get to the right softness. Ritorto is when the straight design is twisted to make a spiral, in Muranese is also called mena’. Menare is to be translated as to lead.
In this case the spiral is interrupted two times so that the two foldings brings back the canes straight.

The effect is a 1960s design, when see through the point of cross creates a patchwork of colors. Bellissimo.

It’s a piera senza vetro, called roll up techniques where the glass is rolled up the pipe without a blob of glass.
