Sophisticated chandelier from Ercole Barovier.
A rare beautiful chandelier, the bottom bowl is in horizontal ribbed hand opened clear etched glass crowned by a set of 12 large and heavy leaves that are to resemble waves with foam. The puligoso glass that Martinuzzi just brought to popularity was used to create this intriguing effect. Waves have vertical ribs and are dented on the puligoso side.
The upper tier is the fountain shaped stem still in puligoso, with glass torciglione (twisted) glass to resemble water gush.
There is a second stem in a torciglione glass and a ribbed canopy in puligoso.
All these elements are building a perfect play with light.
Historical Barovier and Toso. Hardware shows typical constructioin of pre WW2, with wood arm holder (after WW2 is in metal) and carries three regular bulbs (for US the sockets will be changed). Interesting the top part has two oven/fridge small bulbs with the original sockets.
This is an incredible unique chandelier. Comes from a villa in Ardenza, the residential part of Leghorn. Viewing the sea, It has seen the last century changes.
