Pair of Massiccio faceted Murano table lamps in aquamarine by Alberto Donà workshop — Maestro Collection

To create these lamps, several layers of Massiccio glass are gathered from the crucible, pre-shaped on a flat surface (known historically in English as the marble, and in Murano as the bronzino), and deeply ground with an array of wheels to achieve a high polish. The final finish is completed using cork and cerium.

The facets are cut in a random pattern, creating a sculptural quality. For this pair, the Donà Furnace utilized their specialized high-reflection glass to create a unique play with light.

Alberto Donà’s workshop utilizes its own unique potash–lime glass formula. This composition is known for producing deep color tones and a clear optical depth that underscores the physical presence of each piece.

These lamps belong to the Maestro Collection, which is curated by Silvio Piattelli, who has worked in Murano for more than fifty years. The title “Maestro” recognizes the master glassblower responsible for making the piece. In keeping with Murano’s tradition of shared authorship, every lamp is individually signed Alberto Dona.
