I Colossi – Three Sculpted Blue Cobalt Wings

Part of the I Colossi group within the ongoing Maestro collection, this vase continues the collaboration between Silvio Piattelli and Murano glass artist E. Colizza. The series revisits mid-century sculptural principles through the lens of contemporary craftsmanship, drawing subtly from Art Deco geometry and proportion.

In this iteration, clarity and color engage in deliberate tension. The body, blown in clear solid glass (massiccio) infused with 24 K gold leaf, forms a luminous core around which three sculpted cobalt blue wings are hot-applied. The intense chromatic interplay between gold and blue defines the work’s visual rhythm, offering both contrast and cohesion. A matching solid base in deep cobalt grounds the composition with measured gravity.

Here, iridescence is treated with restraint. A whisper of platinum sheen traces the surface, softening transitions without disturbing the purity of hue. The result is an object of contained radiance—where structure and light coexist in a state of poised dialogue.

Developed in close collaboration with Maestro E. Colizza, I Colossi embodies a shared inquiry into weight, luminosity, and expressive form. Each work in the series bears the artists’ joint signature, underscoring the synthesis of design intent and artisanal execution.
