The Gaia collection introduces a contemporary take on lighting, showcasing glass spheres that breathe new life into the classic Mid-century Murano Mezza Filigrana technique. It provides versatility, allowing you to mix and match patterns or select a single design to create a personalized aesthetic.

The nearly lost art of Mezza Filigrana has been revived through custom-designed hardware. I’ve crafted nine unique patterns using Murano filigrana in colors like Lattimo white, Black, Amber, and Red.

Each glass sphere has a 35 cm (14 inches) diameter and is paired with sleek, contemporary hardware that allows for a clear and unobstructed view of the design. Perfect for clustering above a dining area, hanging above an island, or as a striking feature in a stairwell.

This particular version showcases two twisted Filigree sections, one in Black and one in White, framed by a single red Filigrana stripe. It draws inspiration from Dino Martens’ mastery of contrasting black and white, with a distinctive outline accentuated by a single Filigrana cane, usually Avventurina. The result is visually captivating—a design that mesmerizes you, pulling you in for a closer look.

In collaboration with a Murano maestro, I oversaw two full ritorto stretching spins (known as “menà” in Murano dialect), crafting a dense, criss-crossed mosaic of over 70 canes.

The Gaia pattern is formed by rolling glass over a mosaic of Murano smalto filigree. The glass is spun twice before being blown, creating spirals from the canes.

The solid brass hardware is home to an Italian-made LED module that delivers 1000 lumens, is dimmable, and has a CRI of over 90 for precise color rendering. The design remains fully visible with no central socket or bulb. The black silk wire and UL-CE SELV driver are seamlessly integrated into the brass canopy for a clean, polished look.
